Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who can participate in the Hudson Booster Girls In House Program?
A: Girls meeting the Hudson Booster grade and residency requirements can participate in our program. Players must not be a member of another baseball or softball program whose participation would conflict with the Hudson Booster program.

Q: Is there an opportunity for my daughter who has developmental or physical limitations?
A: Yes. The Hudson Boosters sponsor a Challenger program specifically for these players. They play on Sunday evenings.

Q: Are there any exceptions to the residency requirements?
A: Only for the Challenger League.

Q: What are each In House program’s grade requirements?
A: Grade is determined by the Current Grade at the time of registration.

Q: Can boys participate in the girls program?
A: No. According to Hudson Booster guidelines, boys must participate in boys' programs and girls must participate in girls' programs.

Q: What is included in the registration fee?
A: The Hudson Boosters provide each player with a jersey.  Along with shared catcher’s equipment, bats, practice softballs, and game softballs there are field grooming and field maintenance costs, umpire costs, batting cages, pitching machines, and batting tees. There are no administrative costs in our programs, the Hudson Booster programs are run entirely by volunteers.

Q: Is there a Family maximum registration fee?
A: No, there is no Family maximum fee for our programs.

Q: How does the Hudson Booster fee compare with other associations?
A: The Hudson Booster program fee is one of, if not the lowest of comparable associations in the area. We can keep the fee structure low because the program is subsidized by the funds collected at concession stands and at the Hudson Booster Days Celebration over the 4th of July. For this reason, we encourage you to attend the celebration.

Q: Are there any work volunteer obligations for the parents or guardians of the players?
A: Yes, please see the
Volunteer Program FAQ for details.

Q: What is the refund policy if my child withdraws from the program
A: If a player withdraws from the In House Program before April 25th, the refund is 100%, if the withdraw occurs April 25th thru May 20th the refund is 50%, and any refund requests made after May 20th will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Q: What are the Girls In House leagues and ages for those leagues?
A: T-ball for Pre-K (5 yr olds) and K players, Coach Pitch 1st & 2nd grade players, Junior Fast Pitch for 3rd & 4th grade players, Senior Fast Pitch for 5th  & 6th grade players, and Major Fast Pitch for 7th - 12th grade players (this could be altered based on registration numbers). The Challenger league does not have grade restrictions.

Q: Can a player sign up for a league older than her grade?
A: No. The Hudson Booster Girls In House program does not allow players to “play up” a grade.

Q: What process is used to place players on a team?
A: For All Leagues, players are assigned to a team by the Softball Commissioner and In-House Director. For the Junior, Senior, and Major Fast Pitch Leagues, we will also use coach’s evaluations from the previous year (if available), age, and knowledge of the players to balance the teams to the best of their ability.

Q: Can I request that the Boosters place my daughter with other players or with a particular coach?
A: For T-Ball and the Coach Pitch leagues, parents' requests may be taken into account when assigning players to a team, but there is no guarantee. Team balance is the goal for the Junior, Senior, and Major Fast Pitch Leagues player placement. Requests for playing with another player or a particular coach are handled on a case by case basis. Unfortunately, there have been parent request abuses in the past, which have led to complaints about team balance and dissatisfaction with our programs.

Q: How are coaches selected?
A: Parents who volunteer to coach are assigned to a team. All assigned coaches must go through a background check.

Q: Are there any opportunities to play in a more Traveling environment in the In House leagues?
A: The Hudson Boosters sponsor 8-U, 10-U, 12-U, 14-U, and 16-U tournament teams. There is an additional cost for these teams.

Q: What is the length of the season?
A: All In House teams will begin practice in early May. For T-Ball and Coach Pitch, the season ends in early July. For the Junior, Senior, and Major Fast Pitch leagues, the season ends in late July, after their End-of-Year Tournament.

Q: What nights will my daughter play?
A: The answer to that question is a variable based on the number of teams in a league and the number of fields available to that league. All that can be said with certainty is that each team will be scheduled to play 2 games or 1 game and 1 practice per week , on any day, Monday through Thursday. Days that an individual will be scheduled can vary from week to week.

Q: Where will my daughter play?
A: Most Girls' In-House games are played at the North Hudson Elementary School fields. Depending on the number of teams, it is possible that Majors could be practicing/playing at Burton or Grandview.
