Who Are The St. Croix Surge?

The St. Croix Surge is a Western Wisconsin, Eastern Minnesota based club softball program affiliated with the Hudson Boosters, whose mission is to develop young softball players with individual year-round instruction, clinics, dome ball, games and practices for the purpose of building great teams and athletes who want to play softball at a higher level.

History Of The Surge

In an effort to keep local girls from leaving the area to play club softball, the Surge was established in 2013 as an option closer to home for girls to have top notch softball training right in their backyard.  Since that time we have fielded teams at the 14U and 16U age levels, and have had tremendous success.  Some highlights of the program include:

  • 8 players moving on to play college softball
  • Current 18U record in program 196 wins - 65 losses - 14 ties
  • 18U 4th Place at Gold Club State Tournament
  • 16U 3rd Place at ASA Nationals
  • 16U 3rd Place at MMFL Tier One Summer State Championships – 2014
  • 16U 5th place at NAFA Nationals – 2014
  • 16U 1st Place at Elgin Super Regional Championships – 2016
  • 16U 1st Place at Beloit World Series Warm Up - 2016
  • 14U 1st Place at MMFL Tier One Fall State Championships - 2014
  • 14U 1st Place Rosemount Elite Dome League Champions - 2014
  • 14U 1st Place at MMFL Tier Three State Championships – 2015
  • 14U 4th Place at NAFA Nationals – 2015
  • Several Top Finishes At Independent Softball Tournaments

Program Vision

In collaboration with the Hudson Boosters and area college coaches, our softball program is designed to improve each player’s athletic ability which includes fundamentals, speed, conditioning, muscle memory and knowledge of the game.  We teach our girls the importance of academic achievement and being a student athlete first, along with being better citizens in their communities.  Our coaching staff is passionate in their training of young players which is evident to the athletes and their parents.  We help foster the love of softball to our girls and to provide them every opportunity to be successful on and off the field.

Expectations

The Surge program was designed to achieve two primary goals.  First, to provide a highly competitive program for girls in Hudson and surrounding communities who desire to compete at the highest level possible.  Second, we are committed to provide multi-sport athletes with an opportunity to play fast pitch, with year round training opportunities, while recognizing many players compete in multiple sports.   The Surge program is a strong believer in multi-sport athletes.  Conflicts due to in-season sports during fall and winter will not impact your placement on the Surge.  However, by accepting a roster spot we expect players to make practices, games and tournaments the top priority during the summer fast pitch season and it is expected that players are available for 90% of team practices/games including off-season training.

Costs

The fees for Surge softball are being worked on for this season, but historically speaking have been $1500.00, with payment options available.   For these fees players get:

  • Fall Practices and Tournaments 2018
  • Dome Ball 2018 and potential winter tournaments to be chosen by coaching staff
  • Summer Ball 2019 including league play, state and national tournments with gate fees, as well as additional summer tournaments to be chosen by the coaching staff.
  • Paid Coaching - coaches will be experienced or have collegiate softball experience
  • Uniforms - light and dark jerseys, navy pants, socks and belt
  • Off season training and clinics to include softball team and individual instruction along with strength and agility training
