Traveling Team Overview

The Hudson Booster Traveling Program is geared for players that wish to participate in a program that offers competition against teams from other communities in Wisconsin and the Eastern Minnesota metro area . There is an expectation of a higher level of commitment than is needed for the In House programs.

Age/Playing Time/Eligibility

  • The "age" of a player is determined by the rules of the traveling league associations. If you are not sure which program a player is eligible for, check the Age Chart below.
  • There is no “equal playing time” rule in the traveling program, however, unless there are special circumstances, all team members will participate in every game.
  • Hudson Boosters programs are for children in the Hudson School District that are not members of another baseball team, whose games and/or practices would conflict with the Hudson Boosters program.

Evaluation details

  • Players are placed on traveling teams based on a skills evaluation process.
  • Evaluators are appointed by the Hudson Boosters Baseball Committee.
  • The Traveling Baseball Player Selection Committee, on a case-by-case basis, will assess scenarios in which players cannot attend the evaluation date(s) because of injury or sickness.
  • The Traveling Baseball Player Selection Committee approves the final team rosters.
  • If a player is not selected for a traveling team, the player will be encouraged to participate in the In House program.

Scoring Criteria

  • Hitting (bat speed, pop, contact, mechanics)
  • In-field (arm strength, mechanics, accuracy, athleticism, range)
  • Out-field (arm strength, mechanics, accuracy, athleticism, range)
  • Speed (stopwatch measurement)
  • Pitching (velocity, command, mechanics)
